Heat Plant 24 MW – STEP Vidy, Lausanne
Client: SIL
Date: 2010 - 2012
Business: District Heating
Country : Switzerland

The SGC (Service du Gaz et Chauffage à distance) of the city of Lausanne operates the municipal district heating grid "Netzwerk Südwest". In order to increase its capacity and to enable the connection of new customers, SIL (Services industriels Lausanne) built a new heating plant on the site of the STEP Vidy sewage treatment works.

The new heating plant, which has an output of 24 MW, was approved for operation in December 2010, after a two-year construction phase. At the beginning of March 2013 an inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of the local authorities and those involved in the project.

VAPEC was commissioned with the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 24 MW hot water boiler, including the hydraulics, exhaust gas extract system and flue. The new hot water boiler plant with two fire-tubes and triple-pass technology is fitted with dual fuel burners and complies with the requirements for 72-hour continuous unattended operation (BOSB 72h).
